I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Following the demise of Protar many years ago, Italeri has acquired their outstanding product line and have slowly been bringing them to market under the Italeri brand. I have heard that some Protar kits actually used Italeri-molded plastic parts and this kit falls under that category. There is even a statement on the box that says, “Moulds made with proud by Italeri in 1964.” So, it is less of a rebranding and more of a homecoming. This kit has plastic parts in many colors and a beautiful decal sheet, along with springs and tubing for the finer details.I found about a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (half from overseas) but
as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly.
Here is what I have found online about this awesome kit:
The Italeri site shows the contents of the kit with 17 photos of the parts, decals, a full-color drawing of the motorcycle and a vintage photo of one being raced, along with the following write up of the subject:
Norton Motors Ltd was founded in 1898 by James Lansdowne Norton, but it is from 1907, after Rem Fowler won on the Isle of Man TT racetrack, that the sporting tradition of this iconic British brand begins. Between 1930 and 1937 Norton won 78 of the 92 Grand Prix races. After World War II, expressly created for the competition from which takes its name (Isle of Man TT), the Norton Manx was born. In order to adapt it to the racetrack, it is the first one to opt for a double cradle frame (Featherbed), which, between 1947 and 1954, collects a long line of successes. The legendary single-cylinder Manx 500 was ridden to victory in the Isle of Man TT by the intrepid Geoff Duke, who was awarded for the World Championship in 1950 and 1951.
Scalemates.com confirms that this is a 2016 release based on the classic Protar kit from the 1970s. It also has a link download the complete 16-page instruction set and a few links to reviews and references that might be useful in your build.
There are several video reviews of this kit on YouTube.
An Unboxing Review by
florymodels
from the UK goes for about 13 minutes. He starts with a look at the instructions and the construction sequence. Then he pulls out the special parts (rubber tires, pack with tubing, screws, and springs and decals), followed by the plastic parts. He calls it a “must kit” and notes that many of the former Protar kits are being released by Italeri.
There is a six-part series from
RJC Models Official
that starts with
a Pre-Build Review that shows you all the parts. The subsequent five parts are Build Videos that vary in length from 15 minutes to over 30 minutes. You can follow along as you build and get the benefit of his experience. He called it an “absolute dream to put together” and said it was one of his favorite bikes as a kid.
This kit is in a beautiful, sturdy box about 15” x 9.5” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and is still sealed with the original two large tape disks, so it is
factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready.
This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with grey, gold, black and clear plastic parts, rubber tires, tubing, springs, screws and a nice sheet of decals along with a 16-page instruction manual. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid plus, for a limited time, I am offering this large kit with
Flat Rate Shipping in the US!
No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck!
Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder).
As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
