Description
The Armor WL550 is a penetrating, matte wet look water repellent sealer. It penetrates deep into the substrate where it chemically reacts to form a hydrophobic barrier within the pores that reduces surface water absorption by up to 95%. It will darken the surface to slightly enhance any dull and faded coloring. The Armor WL550 is made from high quality, non-recycled, US manufactured resins. It is designed for unsealed concrete, brick, pavers, natural stone, and porous masonry. It works entirely below the surface and won’t leave a surface film. By reducing surface water absorption, cracking, spalling, pitting, mold, mildew, algae, staining, and other damage and deterioration caused by surface water absorption will also be reduced.
Benefits:
Will slightly darken the surface to bring out dull and faded coloring
Works entirely below the surface and won’t leave a surface film
Will reduce water absorption by up to 95%, reducing the damage and deterioration caused by water absorption such as cracking, spalling, pitting, mold, mildew, and algae
Made from non-recycled US manufactured resins
Breathable, UV resistant
Uses
The Armor WL550 is a great choice for a variety of interior and exterior concrete applications, including:
Pool decks and patios
Driveways, walkways, and stairs
Garage and basement floors
Retail and shop floors
Warehouse floors
Sea walls
Retaining walls
Roadways
Sidewalks
Bridges
Much more!
The WL550 can be applied to a variety of interior and exterior concrete surfaces, including:
Poured and broom finished concrete
Exposed aggregate concrete
Concrete pavers
Brick pavers
Red clay brick
Flagstone
Natural stone
The Armor WL550 is designed specifically to be used on unsealed concrete, brick, and masonry. It can’t be applied to surfaces recently applied with a water repellent sealer, or surfaces previously sealed with a film-forming sealer or coating.
Appearance
The Armor WL550 is designed to work entirely below the surface. It will not leave a visible surface film. It is designed to slightly darken the surface in order to provide a matte wet look. For a more dramatic color enhancement, or to achieve a low gloss or high gloss finish, consider instead the Armor AR350 for a low gloss wet look, or the Armor AR500 for a high gloss wet look.
Color enhancement will vary depending on several factors including surface porosity. We suggest applying a sample of the Armor WL550 first to verify you are able to achieve the desired look.
Product Life
When properly applied, the ArmorWL550 can provide up to 3-5 years of life on an exterior surface before the need to recoat.
Water Bead: Surface water beading will not occur on all surfaces. While some surfaces may experience an instantaneous bead, others won’t experience a surface water bead at all. Surface water beading is not a sealer benefit. Surface water bead is caused from resin build-up on the surface. Once the resin build-up goes away, so will the bead. The Armor WL550 is designed to work entirely below the surface so its benefits are made visible through performance. You will find sealed surfaces dry faster, are easier to clean, and experience less damage caused by freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts.

How To Apply:
The Armor WL550 should be applied with a solvent/acetone resistant HVLP pump sprayer. For best results, avoid applying with a roller. For consistent coverage, one even coat should be applied. Do not let puddle, product is not designed to leave a surface film.
Time of Day
To allow for proper absorption and reaction, the Armor WL550 should only be applied in the early evening (around 5 PM or later) when air and surface temperatures are declining, and when the sun is no longer positioned over the surface.
Surface Preparation
The Armor WL550 should be applied to a completely clean and dry surface. If the surface was cleaned with water or pressure washed prior to application, allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours before sealing. While the surface may appear dry and feel dry to touch, water below the surface trapped in the pores can cause the same issues. While pressure washing the surface is typically sufficient, spot treatment may be necessary for deep or older stains. If the surface is smooth troweled, or does not easily accept water, acid etching may be required prior to applying sealer. It is always suggested to apply the Armor WL550 to a test area to verify absorption, coverage, compatibility, and project suitability.
The Armor WL550 is designed specifically for unsealed concrete and masonry surfaces. Do not apply this product over a surface recently sealed with a water repellent sealer, or previously sealed with a film-forming sealer or coating.
For complete application instructions and safety data, please refer to the Technical Data Sheet or SDS Sheet.
Coverage:
Porous Surfaces: Up to 175 FT2/gallon in one coat.
Smooth Surfaces (once properly prepped): Up to 200-225 FT2/gallon in one coat.
Coverage will vary depending on porosity, surface condition, application method, and the amount of material applied by the applicator. The above coverage rates are estimates and will vary.
