Using Dixie Belle Paint is very easy! Just follow these few simple steps.
Step 1:
Allow the paint on your finished piece to completely dry.
Step 2:
Simply sponge or brush on a VERY thin layer of gator hide.
Step 3:
Let it dry, and after 1 - 2 hours re-apply another very thin coat
Step 4:
For best results, apply one more thin coat after 2 hours for a total of 3 thin coats
Q: How do you apply Gator Hide?
A: "I use the blue sponge. I store it in a plastic bowl with lid. I pour about 1/2 to 3/4" in the bowl and set the sponge in so it absorbs a little GH, then wipe the sponge bottom across the rim to get off excess and then you are ready to gently wipe it in one direction across my piece. You will have a VERY thin coat. Let it dry and repeat 2 more times. I put the sponge into the container and put the lid on and it keeps well and is always ready. I add more GH as needed. ALWAYS stir the jar of Gator Hide before pouring into the bowl. Once it's in the bowl, the sponge keeps it from separting so needs no more mixing. Don't put too much into the plastic container or the sponge will absorb too much. It works like a charm. I don't need to clean the sponge very often, you will know when it's time to do so."
